Easter is upcoming and we are well stocked with the Colombas and Easter Eggs!!
Colomba is the classic italian Easter Cake. It is an enriched bread – a yeasted sweet dough to which eggs and butter are added. After being left to rise for many hours, the dough is shaped into a flying dove, topped with almond paste, pearl sugar and almonds, then baked to perfection.
Eggs represent new life and rebirth, and it's thought that this ancient custom became a part of Easter celebrations. In the medieval period, eating eggs was forbidden during Lent (the 40 days before Easter) so on Easter Sunday, tucking into an egg was a real treat.

To get to Northfield Avenue in London, you can take the Piccadilly line on the London Underground and alight at Northfields station. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to the coffee shop and deli.
Alternatively, if you're driving, you can take the A406 North Circular Road and turn onto B452 Northfield Avenue. There is limited street parking available in the surrounding area. It's also possible to park at a nearby car park and walk to the coffee shop and deli.
