The Ivy House celebrates 13 years of community ownership next weekend with a huge double header across Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September!
On Saturday we’re joined by Jackson Roy, who explores a world between angst-ridden alt rock and experimental folk, sewn together with electronic textures and ethereal arrangements; his playful visions and hooky melodies finding themselves woven through an ever-changing palette of intense dynamic shifts, unpredictable grooves and earnest lyricism.
Swipe for a clip of his video for ‘Glitterball Daze’, taken from his EP ‘Natural Cause’, filmed at The Ivy House earlier this year!

Next weekend we celebrate 13 years of community ownership with a huge double headed monster of an Ivy House Birthday Bash gig.
Headlining Saturday night we have SUEP who, led by Georgie Stott and Joshua Harvey, have become fixtures of south-east London’s underground through a series of shared living spaces, improvised studios and DIY venues. Now with George Nicholls (The Tubs, Joanna Gruesome, GN Band), William Deacon (PC World), and Louis Forster (The Goon Sax, Expiry) completing the line up, their debut album, Forever, is out now and is a resplendent joy.

Preen are singer-songwriters Robin Finetto, David Lawton and Evie Tarr, their three distinct voices in harmony are key to their sound, but also the heart of their creative process. Together they intertwine the rawness and melancholy of acts like Elliott Smith and Big Thief, with the playfulness and classic songwriting of Carpenters and The Beatles. Since forming in 2020, they have become staples of London’s indie scene.
We couldn’t be more stoked to have them headline the first night of our annual BIRTHDAY BASH this Friday 18th September! 🎂

This Monday (31st) we welcome to The Ivy House for the first time, for the debut UK edition of the iconic Portland, OR based screening series. filmschoolpdx was founded by three friends united by their love of cinema and a desire to build a community for like-minded individuals to watch, discuss, and connect through film, and has since built a cult following on the west coast, with monthly screenings of iconic and forgotten favourites, all centred around the core values of inclusivity and open discussion.
I caught up with Film School London operator to chat about what makes Film School so special, and why Monday is going to be so fun.
