Crash, bang, wallop, it’s another week at The Ivy House! Here’s what’s happening…
TUESDAY 2ND - New Lands: Flypaper + Same Old
Flypaper is the project of Rory Sear, influenced by the sophisticated, narrative-driven songwriting of Brian Wilson, Harry Nilsson and Randy Newman, Sear creates gorgeous, rocking chair odes to the stresses and boredoms of London life.
There’s a gentle, fuzzy warmth nestled inside the timeless chord changes and whimsical lyrics that characterise the sound of Same Old. Each song is delicately lo-fi and charmingly wonky, drawing references from the likes of Ivor Cutler, Laura Marling and Randy Newman.

Crazy Paving return to The Ivy House tomorrow evening as part of a stacked lineup, sandwiched between djank () and Or Sobre Blau ( + .ubaldo)!
fanclub is the project of Robbie Carman and their debut EP, So It Goes, was released at the end of last year on . Though the material is written by Carman, the band record and perform live as an energetic seven piece, which has slowly grown since they made their live debut a couple years back on our very own stage. The group consists of members from other bands who’ll be more than familiar to Ivy House regulars (nudista, Flypaper, Wilshaw, Moon Balloon, Baggio) - a gang of friends and collaborators whose infectious friendship eminates from any stage they take. Clearly influenced by the likes of Beck, The Clean, Buzzcocks and the Undertones, their live shows are rollicking and unmissable.
Grab a ticket today for just £8+bf on Gel or Dice - (lower booking fees on Gel!) - or buy on the door tomorrow for a couple quid extra. The choice is yours.

Formed into a big mess of heavy guitars, four part harmonies, DIY videos, and lofi cassette loops, djank take inspiration from folk, midwest emo, 90’s pop, and whatever records or snippets of audio they find in charity shops and on Internet Archive.
Grab a ticket today for just £8+bf on Gel or Dice (lower booking fees on Gel!)

🍻 Beer Fest 2026 kicks off TODAY 🍻
I asked Steely Dan 2 some questions ahead of their headline set tomorrow. Head to our Substack to read that!
We’re open from midday today. Food from 4pm. Live music from 8pm with .ryan.thomas .
Let’s have it!
14/05/2026
‘Dirty Work’ performed by Steely Dan 2 at a couple years back.
This Saturday represents an impossibly rare opportunity to see this this motley nine-piece hive-mind of intrepid musicians saunter their way through the back catalogue of our favourite yacht rock heroes. They have promised us the hits.
They headline Saturday night at The Ivy House, which also features Sinatra Lives... A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, featuring many of Nunhead’s most revered faces and respected musicians.
Earlier that day we showcase four of South London’s most excited young bands; Scrounge, flytrap, tall child (who’ve just reached the final five of Green Man Rising!) and Free Lunch.
All the while we’ll be plying you with pints, drawn from 50+ kegs of guest beers and ciders, and will be in the kitchen cooking up a storm!!
Beer Fest kicks off on Friday, with Matthew Ryan Thomas & Garden Centre taking the stage, and wraps up on Sunday with Doolally Tap and a Bring Your Own Vinyl Open Decks.
Did we mention that this is all for free? You can literally just walk in.
See you there :)

Super duper excited to welcome tall child back to The Ivy House this Saturday afternoon, as part of our mammoth Beer Fest weekender!
tall child is the alias for Zha Gandhi, a South East London based musician of Nigerian/Indian heritage paving the way for black artists in the indie music scene. tall child takes inspiration from the likes of Mitski, Radiohead, Rachel Chinouriri and Arlo Parks, to create a beautifully intimate and authentic basis for their soundscape. They build on this with a brutally honest style of lyricism, that explores their experiences as a q***r disabled POC, to develop a sonic space especially for those who feel their differences being used against them.
They’ve also just reached the final five of Green Man Rising 2026, so this is a great chance to come see what the fuss is about before they’re too big!!
In other news, sadly Animal Soup can no longer join us tomorrow, but we do have the wonderful and inimitable Kevin! stepping into open up proceedings on Friday evening! What a treat!!!
See you tomorrow for beers, ciders, foods and tunes :)

Marrying the arch posturing of contemporary indie and the spirit of 90s alt rock, with the trash and camp of y2k poptimism, and the harmonic language of música popular brasileira, the six-piece Animal Soup (led by London-based studio engineer and producer Joe Osborne) finds its even keel somewhere amidst London’s eclectic and genre-spanning guitar band scene.
They join us at Beer Fest next Friday 15th May, alongside Garden Centre and Matthew Ryan Thomas, for a totally FREE SHOW as part of our three day celebration of beers, ciders and tunes. Join us then, and again on Saturday, and again on Sunday.
