Minced Beef with Holy Basil.
One of Thailand’s most recognisable stir-fries cooked over fierce heat as the beef catches in the wok alongside garlic, chilli, and handfuls of holy basil. We use a mixture of ‘red’ and ‘white’ holy basil and clove basil which is the historic pairing with beef
Eaten the only way it should be: with a generous mound of jasmine rice and a crisp, golden fried egg, ready for the yolk to flood through the entire dish

Cafe Maprao.
The streets of Bangkok run on iced coffees, often seen swinging precariously from scooter handlebars in nothing but a plastic bag.
Ours stacks Thai coffee with condensed milk and thick coconut milk foam, finished with coconut sprinkles.
Rich, ice cold, and never far from hand once the curries arrive.

The Speedboat Bar Team back on the water, with the same speed and noise that gave us our name. Watching our friends who actually race these things makes our restaurant pace look almost leisurely.
Turns out the same hands that flip a wok on our turbo charged burners are pretty handy on a throttle too...

Wide Rice Noodles with Beef & Soy Sauce.
Lo’s thick rice noodles are delivered fresh each day from Lo’s in Chinatown, where generations of the same family have been making noodles for the area’s restaurants. It’s a Chinatown institution and something we are honoured to support.
Wok-charred, then stir-fried with skirt steak, Chinese broccoli and egg. They’re finished with a rich blend of soy, oyster, and fish sauce.
Make sure to add spoonful of chilli flakes, a splash of chilies in vinegar, or a pinch of sugar from the tabletop condiment caddy and make it your own.

Fried Rice with Pork Mince & Salted Chinese Black Olives.
Speedboat Bar is most easily described as ‘Thai-Chinese’, but to those in the know, it’s really a khao tom restaurant - where dishes full of contrast meet a gentle, aromatic rice porridge.
This dish would be one of the first things you’d order in such an establishment. It’s all about the nam liap, salted Chinese black olives - beloved for their deep savoury finish.
Fried rice is tossed through with pork mince, garlic, and the chopped ‘olives’, the richness lifted by bursts of sharp, slightly sour salinity throughout. It’s something comforting, as requested by our Thai guests, especially late at night.
Available as a Soho special from Monday 15th June until Sunday 12th July.

EXPLODING TOFU 💥
One of the lesser-known dishes on the menu, we’ve been eating for years at Charm in Phuket.
Phuket’s food culture is deeply shaped by its Chinese heritage, with generations of migration bringing together Southern Thai ingredients and Chinese cooking techniques.
A vegan version of Charm’s ‘exploding eggs’, silken tofu is layered with taro, chayote, shimeji mushrooms, fresh green peppercorns, makrut lime leaves, and chilli.
It carrys a pulsating heat through these simple ingredients

Speedboat Bar, a triumphant cacophony.
Tables filled edge to edge, silver tops catching flashes from the TV screens, cold beers landing fast, and plates stacking up quicker than there’s room for them.
Crispy pork, sour salads, seafood sizzlers, noodles, whisky sodas - the kind of table you’ll find spilling out onto Yaowarat Road long after dark.
Pool in the upstairs clubhouse, Thai hyperpop and rock on the speakers. Our Speedboat Bar runs at top knot, every night.
