*Mingles Bar & Restaurant Steady Expansion*
After the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, things are slowly but steadily picking up. Mingles Bar & Restaurant in London is one business with a Sierra Leonean as the proprietor that has embraced the vision of expansion. Food chains across London are looking for expansion and ways of entering new markets which are profitable through different entry modes. Entrepreneurs look at feasible strategies that can be used to expand locally.

Reasons for these food chains expanding locally could be reactive and proactive. Increase customer needs and potential opportunities are some of the reactive reasons for food chain expansion. To expand base for growth and profits, cost savings, access to different resources are some of the proactive reasons for food chains expanding.

A classic example of a visionary and exemplary entrepreneur who is Steadily expanding is Mr. Rowland Hamilton of Mingles Bar & Restaurant. He is slowly but steadily emerging as one of the most successful CEO's in terms of implying national strategies successfully.

In order to be accurate, thorough and factual about a brief background on how it all started, I had to contact Mr. Rowland Hamilton, the CEO of Mingles Bar & Restaurant in London. He started off by saying, "Mingles emerged from the need for Sierra Leoneans to have an uptown entertainment place to socialise and mingle with one another". From the on set, he has clear intentions to serve his community in one of the most dignified manner.

I needed to know what inspired him to start a restaurant in the Sierra Leone community when he could have also chosen to cater for other communities. He mentioned that "before 2017 there were very few Sierra Leonean entertainment places. So, in 2017, on the 1st of November Mingles Bar & Restaurant started trading as Mingles". Here is someone whose vision and entrepreneurship is unrivalled. He must have thoroughly done his research in the food sector.

There are certain values that are very central to how Mingles Bar and Restaurant conduct their business which makes them very appealing to the broader community, they work together to achieve results that are greater than those we can achieve alone. They make a positive difference in the experience of their guests and those around them. They create fond memories for their guests and each other. They establish a benefit to their guests, they serve the Sierra Leone community with the highest quality of hospitality, integrity, honesty, respect and servant leadership. They also engage in welfare support to make a meaningful give back to community. Family and friends who are subscribed to the Mingles Bar and Restaurant WhatsApp forum could attest to this. They also contribute towards charities within the Sierra Leone community in London. To further enhance their corporate social responsibility(CSR) they financially help schools and charitable organisations both in London and Sierra Leonean.

With the rumours doing rounds about a possible Mingles expansion, I asked Mr. Hamilton to set the record straight. He humbly replied, "we are currently working hard to open a second branch in Brixton. I further asked him why Brixton? His thoughtful response was "Brixton is a more diversified community so we will be still serving the Sierra Leonean community in London as well as other nationalities". Every thriving business has a catchphrase. I was wondering if this brother has envisaged that? With a smile on his face, "Mingles is 'Proudly Sierra Leonean and Truly International', he replied. How do you vision Mingles Bar and Restaurant in the not too distant future? With a strong sense of conviction, "one of our main objectives is one day to serve Cassava Leaves, Potato
Leaves, Tola etc, etc in Oxford Street and Regent Street in London", was his response.
Thank you Mr. Rowland Hamilton of Mingles Bar and Restaurant for your time.

Well, my fellow Sierra Leoneans, there you have it. One of ours is putting the 🇸🇱 Green, White & Blue flag on the map for all the right reasons. Let's help to support this brother, re-fuel his passion to serve and give back to our community.

WHAT IS SOCIAL CAPITAL?

There is something in life called “Social Capital. The people you know; the people who know you and how they know you. What's social capital? Listen to this,

Quite unfortunately, people think or behave like social capital is only needed on weddings and burials. That is why you see someone will not have contacted you in ten years but out of the blue they are sending you a message, “Hello so and so, long time, next Sunday is my pre-wedding. Or my uncle is dead plse I need your support.”!

Social capital is not built overnight; it is reciprocal and does not need money (especially in this virtually connected world) to build. It just needs being sensitive that people have emotions and that you can’t sneak into their lives only when you need help.

Social capital is massively important and when built and used correctly, it can make a very big difference to one’s quality of life. It can save you money, make you money, get you a better job, make things easier and safer, it can save you from prison, or save your life: it can save your time and effort, and make life more enjoyable and productive.

As we progress through the year, please learn to connect with people in your circles and not only christ. Check on people, send someone a birthday message, check their timelines and comment something positive and inspirational. Pick your phone and call someone, or text them. It could be your relative, your colleague, your former schoolmate, a former or current boss, your CEO, your parents etc.

Creating a connection with people is important for building your social capital. And even if they don’t respond, at least keep in touch and don’t just reach out when you are in need. Even some on whatsup don't comment on any issue you put across they just read and keep queit but that should not deter you, continue communicating.

Most importantly, respect everyone no matter their status in life and be there when others need you. Be a solution, an encouragement and inspiration. Avoid being a leech, a user or nagger. Just be a nice person who in a calculated way stays in touch with people and brings joy, encouragement and hope.

The most important asset you have in life is not your job, money or title; its people. Your network is your net worth"
Stay connected, fellas
