🌿 We now have bonsai trees in-store!

trees are trees that have been grown to look like miniaturised real life trees. Contrary to popular opinion they aren't a specialised 'dwarf' variety of trees. Rather they are 'regular' trees that have been pruned, cropped and shaped to look like a fully grown tree - but at a much smaller scale.

In Japan (where they originated) it takes multiple decades to grow a single tree before it is ready for sale.
It is often a family business passed down through generations and a very skilled art form.

It can be very therapeutic growing and caring for a bonsai tree.

Plants rule the planet—at least in terms of sheer mass. Many tallies of Earth's life use biodiversity as a measurement and simply count the number of species. A new census, based on biomass, compiled data from hundreds of studies to determine which kingdoms, classes and species carry the most global heft. The results show that plants (primarily those on land) account for 80 percent of the total biomass, with bacteria across all ecosystems a distant second at 15 percent. The findings were published online in May in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA.
