The Olivelli team is delighted that Italian cooking has become the first cuisine in history to be awarded world heritage status by United Nations’ cultural agency UNESCO.
Responding to the announcement yesterday (December 10), Olivelli’s owner Giovanni Salamone said: “This is great news. For Italians and Sicilians our cuisine is much more than just food. Sharing a meal is a daily ritual; a joyful, unhurried experience that brings family and friends together; an appreciation and respect for the ingredients. Unique regional recipes are passed down from generation to generation.”
Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has called the award recognition of “who we are and our identity”.

The Italian restaurant and pizza place in London can be easily accessed via public transport as well as with a personal vehicle. If you are using public transport, you can take the Underground to Southwark station and then walk for about 5-7 minutes to reach the destination. Alternatively, you can also take bus numbers 45, 63 or 100 that stop near the restaurant.
In case you are driving, the restaurant is located in a busy area with limited parking options. However, there are several pay and display parking spots available on Union Street or Lavington Street which are within walking distance from the restaurant. It is recommended to check for any parking restrictions before leaving your car unattended.
