Thursday at Boisdale, and not a dull glass in sight. 🍾
We were joined by Champagne Gardet President Christophe Prieux for a tasting of four Champagnes from our long-standing friends in Chigny-les-Roses.
The story began in 1985, when Ranald Macdonald discovered Gardet after its Vintage 1971 came second equal with Krug 1971 in a completely blind tasting with 24 Masters of Wine. The winner was Salon 1971, now one of the most expensive Champagnes in the world. Rather good company to keep.😉
By 1987, Boisdale had become an official Champagne Marque, made by Gardet. Nearly 40 years later, we were back around the table, glasses full and opinions flowing. 🥂
The winner on the night was Gardet Reserve 1er Cru Blanc de Noirs, which has given us a very tempting thought: should this become the next Boisdale wine?👀
Afterwards, some of the guests stayed for dinner and the magnificent R&B Orchestra upstairs. One particularly handsome plate from the kitchen was Head Chef Andrew Donovan’s skate wing with new potatoes, chorizo and spinach. 🎶
Champagne, conversation, dinner, music, old friends and new ones. This is what Boisdale does best. ❤️
