Meet Tyron:
“Sundays were sacred in our home; the day when food, family, and stories came together - that joy of sharing a meal stuck with me. Raised on generations of family recipes passed down from both Jamaican and Turkish Cypriot grandparents, I was inspired to experiment at an early age. By my teens, I’d mastered the classics and started reimagining them with new ingredients and ideas.
Lockdown gave me the push to turn passion into purpose. With a garden, a grill, and an Instagram account, the first orders came from friends, then friends of friends. Within weeks, queues stretched down the street. That backyard hustle became a permanent stall at Mercato Metropolitano in Ilford, and in January 2024, we brought our flavour to Canary Wharf. Today, we serve thousands, from foodies to festival crowds, office workers to wedding guests.”

Today, our hearts are heavy.
Some losses are felt far beyond family. They ripple through communities, industries and generations. The passing of Chef Dom is one of those losses.
For those of us who came up in South East London, his journey meant something deeper than food. From the days of Sega Zone to the kitchens of The Langham, Dom embodied what was possible. He showed that your beginnings don’t have to define your destination.
He didn’t just become an exceptional chef; he became a symbol of what determination, talent and resilience could achieve. At a time when there were far fewer Black chefs being recognised at the highest level, Dom carved out a space through hard work, humility and excellence. Whether he realised it or not, he opened doors simply by walking through them.
As someone who has travelled a different path in food, I know how important it is to see people who look like you, who come from where you come from, succeeding in spaces where we have historically been underrepresented. Dom was one of those people. His success wasn’t just his own—it quietly expanded what the rest of us believed was possible.
On behalf of everyone at Twerk’N’Jerk, we send our deepest condolences to Dom’s family, friends, colleagues and everyone whose life he touched. We hope that, in time, your grief is met with the comfort of knowing his legacy will continue to inspire countless chefs, creatives and young people who dare to dream beyond the limits others place upon them.
Chef to chef.
South East London to the world.
Thank you for showing us what excellence looked like.
Rest easy, Chef Dom.
Your crown never comes off 👑🕊️
