The restaurant has recently reopened its doors after closing due to the pandemic. It was formerly known as Frank's Fish Bar which was founded by Frantzis Joseph (Frank) who was a pillar of the local community. The Plaice of Sole honors his legacy by continuing to serve Abbey Wood with dedication and kindness.

Additionally, there are two nearby tube stations within a 10-minute walk: Whitechapel Station which services the District and Hammersmith & City lines and Stepney Green Station which services the District line.

For those driving, there is limited street parking available on Mcleod Road and surrounding streets. Alternatively, there are several paid parking lots in the area including Q-Park Whitechapel and Royal London Hospital Car Park both of which are approximately a 10-15 minute walk away from The Plaice of Sole.
