At Apex Hotels, we believe great leadership shapes great culture, and we’re proud to support the development of our people at every stage of their journey.
Recently, Lyndsey and Annie took part in the Leaders Make a Culture, a two day leadership programme for the modern hospitality leader delivered by Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland Training, and their reflections speak volumes about the impact of investing in leadership.
For Lyndsey, the programme was “an eye opener of significant value,” giving her “a tool kit of resources to use in day to day work life” and a new perspective on how she approaches tasks and interactions. She also highlighted the importance of self-care in leadership, sharing that it reinforced the need “to take care of myself as much as I do for my team in order to be the effective and supportive leader that I aspire to be.” Many of her learnings have now become part of her “new daily routines,” positively influencing her mindset.
Annie described the experience as one she would “absolutely wholeheartedly encourage any manager to join.” She emphasised the value of stepping away from daily operations to reflect, noting the course is “engaging, thought provoking and allows you time to really dive into what type of leader you want to be.” Learning alongside peers across the hospitality industry was another standout, offering a chance “to speak to other people in all areas of hospitality and learn from them too.”
Both Lyndsey and Annie came away having “gained so much” from the experience, equipped with practical tools to “begin to make those small changes and embed new practices” within their teams.
Opportunities like this not only strengthen individual leaders but help us continue building a positive, supportive culture across Apex Hotels.
